Pictured is Leo Wiegman, President of Croton100, addressing the Croton-on-Hudson Village Board on the occasion.
On February 29, 2020, Croton100 was born as a grassroots all-volunteer climate stability organization. It was enthusiastically launched with a community-wide event at the High School, marking its symbolic leap into the future on Leap Day. Shortly thereafter, the Covid-19 pandemic struck, making community advocacy so much more difficult. Due to the dogged perseverance of the Board and volunteers, Croton100 has a track record of accomplishments over the last 4 years that spans carbon literacy education, digital tools, public presentations, promoting policy solutions, hosting Electric Vehicle shows, unflinchingly advocating for electric school buses, signing up residents for community solar, and so much more!
The Croton on Hudson Village Board took note of this "first anniversary" four years after the founding of Croton100 by passing a resolution in their February 28, 2024 meeting designating February 29 as "Croton100 Day to commemorate the establishment of Croton100 as a prominent advocate for climate stability and to celebrate its numerous contributions to our Village, our region, and the planet."
"It was positively the highlight of the evening for me," said Deputy Mayor and Trustee Len Simon. "A well-deserved recognition of Croton at its best!"
